Mangemangeroa Walkway
Mangemangeroa means "Valley of the Mangemange" in Maori. Mangemange (Lygodium articulatum)
is a fern with tough wiry leaves that wind around shrubs and trees. This fern is now rare in
the valley but was previously used by Maori to make eel baskets, fishing nets and ropes. Today
the estuary below the valley is home to a wide variety of bird and fish life and offers a couple of
tramping options. We did the shorter 1 hour walk but will definitely return for the longer
route. Mangemangeroa lies east of Auckland

One of the shorter options to walk is the Rotary Loop
